Today there are 4 days to Christmas, 2 days to we leave England for Copenhagen and 29 days to the end of our holiday. First up was Squirrel feeding in St James's Park and changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace.

The queue was long but moved quickly and, after a security check, we were on board. The Brisbane version is only about one-third of the height and it soon became noticeable. The view as amazing! We tried to play a spot-the-landmark game but we were too excited running from one corner to another to play it properly. A Police helicopter came up close and waved but did not hang around for long, off to save the city I guess. Connor took some amazing photos while the family was taking the breathtaking views. It took about 40 mins to go all the way around but it was great to see things from a different angle.

The squirrels were sooooo cute. they would come right up to you and take the nuts from your hand. Ben said they sometimes even run up your leg but we couldn't get one to do that. They looked very well fed. Ben then directed us to a good vantage point where the guards come out of the barracks. The idea was we would then follow them down the road to where the changing of the guard would take place.
While we were waiting we introduced ourselves to a police horse and watched all of the other tourists race around.
Finally, a about 15 Guards came out led by an Irish fife band playing the theme song from the movie The Great Escape. The plan worked well until we arrived at the Palace where the roads were all blocked... although we could only see the tops of the very large headdress, the pageantry looked very impressive but did take ages. We eventually walked in front of the Palace for a closer look and then onto the London Eye past Westminster and Big Ben in glorious sunlight over Westminster Bridge.
After that we split up Lisa, Mum, Caitlin and I went off to Canary Wharf but Dad and Ben headed off to a unknown location (possible Christmas shopping alert). We had lunch at GBK (Gourmet Burger Kitchen) apparently the best burgers in London. Then off to the shops for some unsuccessful Christmas shopping.
Tonight we went to Royal Albert Hall where we were treated to the Mozart performance orchestra and choir playing and singing beautifully. The lovely red seating and the venue added to the night and will make me remember this holiday for a long time to come.
Tomorrow off to the Tower of London and possibly some ice skating.
The Woods
