Day 4, London Dungeon, Borough Markets and the London Museum

Today was the last day in London on our own without Lisa and Ben, they're now officially on holidays. So we used the tube again this time to Bond Street and followed a sign to the London Museum. The sign was wrong and our leader mum without her trusty map and armed with only a tube brochure had to stoop to asking directions!Luckily a Londoner was all too happy to help out and he is the one in the beanie on the left of the photo (Mum is on the right).

The musuem was built in Ancient Greek style with white rock and columns at the main entrance. We took some good family photos (without me of course because I am taking the picture) with Winston. There was too much to see in the several hours we were there because of the detailed information and the many exhibits. My favourite section was the Ancient Greek statues and frescos. Simply the details on the art was spectacular. I saw some of the most famous Ancient Greek statues but we spent too much time downstairs so we had to rush with other 4 floors. We saw all the highlights - the Rosetta Stone, Egyptian mummies, samurai armour........... We did have to leave to get to our next destination 'The London Dungeon'.
BEWARE!!!!!!

The Prince of Hell has captured santa (or saint Nick, as the british like to call him)! And us! He banished us to the labrinith of the lost, which is a maze with no end! The torture man let us out in the end, but only because he wanted to frighten us with his instruments of TORTURE!!! He picked an unfortunate from the crowd( thank god it wasn't one of us) and demonstrated on him! Not really. We were convicted of a crime we did not commit, were shown the results of the great plague and the great fire, and went back in time to the year of Jack the Ripper( He jumped out at us! We were so scared) and Sweeny Todd, where Dad was in the barbers chair! All of this was leading up to when we were hung!!!!!!!! It was only a freefall ride, but just as scary!! Overall, it was great!!!Mum, Dad and Connor were terrified, but Caitlin seemed to love it, although some parts she was very scared. This is reflected in the photo they took of us, unfortunately not shown - you will have to wait until we get home. We were all glad to see sunlight afterwards!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was a great way to learn London history - something the children will take a while to forget.

As we left the Dungeon, we literally bumped into Ben who was waiting outside to whisk us off to our next destination - the Borough markets. It was about 4pm - dark, cold, windy and busy. We followed Ben through traffic and entered the most amazing markets - mulled wine, pheasants, rabbits, the most amazing cheeses, olives, truffles, cakes, breads, meats..... we were able to taste all sorts of wonderful things - indulged in olives, cheeses, puzzle cake, brownies, fresh juice.

Off to London Bridge - and it wasn't falling down! It was very breezy walking across it as we stopped at points to see Tower Bridge and the wonderful London lights.

We walked to St Paul's Cathedral - again we continue to be amazed at the history and the architecture. We saw Temple Bar, the London Fire monument and then caught the tube to Oxford Circus where we met up with Lisa. We followed each other through the crush of Friday night shopping - had to be there to believe it! The Christmas lights were amazing and Christine has already started to plan the lights for Christmas 2009 at home. We then darted off into a small alley and it was like we had stepped into another world - the crowds had gone and instead restaurants, bars and quiet music. We had dinner at Busabi Eathai (Busabi Eathai means happy Thai food) a Thai restaurant with large tables where 10 people can sit - it was so yummy - By this time our eyes were starting to fall out of our heads and we caught the train home - didn't fancy the walk from the tube so caught the 199 double decker bus to our house where we all came in - Caitlin, Connor and Mum fell immediately to sleep and left Dad to entertain Ben and Lisa.

Keep reading for more WWWW adventures,
